Today, our SGA community came together to celebrate Nowruz – the Persian New Year! 🌿✨ This special occasion marks the arrival of spring, renewal, and new beginnings, bringing joy, prosperity, and hope for the year ahead!
A highlight of our celebration was the Haft-Seen table (هفتسین), a beautiful and symbolic arrangement of seven items, each starting with the Persian letter "S" (س):
🥚 Sabzeh (سبزه) – Sprouted wheat or lentils, symbolizing rebirth and renewal
🍏 Seeb (سیب) – Apples, representing beauty and health
🍯 Serkeh (سرکه) – Vinegar, symbolizing patience and wisdom
🍳 Senjed (سنجد) – Dried oleaster fruit, representing love and wisdom
🌸 Samanu (سمنو) – Sweet wheat pudding, signifying strength and power
🧄 Seer (سیر) – Garlic, symbolizing protection and good health
🐠 Somāq (سماق) – Sumac, representing the sunrise and the victory of light over darkness
Our celebration was filled with traditional treats, cultural performances, and joyful moments shared with friends! It was a wonderful opportunity to appreciate Persian culture and welcome the start of a new season.
